No. 14 Bulldogs Shut Out Louisiana Tech, 2-0

RUSTON, La. - The 14th-ranked Fresno State softball team picked up a 2-0 win at Louisiana Tech in game one of the Western Athletic Conference doubleheader at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
Head coach Margie Wright coached her 1,500th game while junior All-America pitcher Jamie Southern recorded her 15th shutout in 20 wins. Improving to 20-5 on the year, Southern also notcher her 80th career win.
Sophomore All-America shortstop Christina Clark posted a multiple hit game after going 2-3 with a run and a double. Southern and center fielder Mitzi Ing each recorded a RBI for the Bulldogs.
While both teams only managed four hits a piece, the Bulldogs scored their first two runs in the first two innings.
In the first inning, Clark led the game off with a single into left field. Five batters later, Ing had a RBI walk to score Clark, who had advanced to second on a sacrifice and to third on a fielder's choice.
In the second with one out, freshman left fielder Rachel Donaldson drew a walk. Clark laced a double to center field to move Donaldson to third. Southern followed with a RBI single to left field as Donaldson scored.
Louisiana Tech's best scoring opportunity came in the bottom of the seventh. With back-to-back singles and a sacrifice to put runners on second and third, Southern got the next batter to fly out to shallow center before recording her ninth strikeout of the game for the win.
