James Sanders had one of the best games of his already stellar career in Fresno State's 35-16 victory over Washington on Sept. 5. Because of his efforts, he was named gobulldogs.com's Athlete of the Week.

The Porterville, Calif., native helped lead Fresno State to victory in the season opener by making seven tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and one sack.

Perhaps most impressive, however, was that he notched two interceptions, one of which he ran back for a touchdown, getting the Bulldogs on the board.

For his efforts, Sanders not only received the lofty honor of gobulldogs.com Athlete of the Week, he also was named the Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
