Laura Luethke was named gobulldogs.com's Athlete of the Week after claiming her first collegiate victory Tuesday at Colorado State's Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic, adding a third round 71 (-1) to her tournament low first round of 68 to finish three strokes under at 213 (68-74-71). She finished two strokes ahead of second-place finisher Hannah Hoch of Colorado and her performance helped the 'Dogs capture an eighth-place finish in an 18-team field in the first tournament of their debut season. Luethke was a premiere West Coast recruit prior to signing with Fresno State. She boasts a stellar pre-collegiate record that includes victories at the 2003 CIF Valley High School Championships, the 2003 Tournament of Champions and the San Joaquin Valley Junior. The three-time Len Ross Fresno City champion was also named the 2003 Northern California Junior Golf Association Player of the Year.
