Fresno, Calif. - Palo Alto has proven to be a tough place to compete for the Bulldogs in past years, and this year was no exception. However, the team rose to the challenge and finished in 13th place, their best finish at the Stanford Invitational in over four years.
The Bulldogs were led my Sophomore Andrea Buckner. Buckner finished the 4k course in 15:07, which was good for 34th overall. The team also had a good showing from their seniors, who finished second through fourth for the Bulldogs. Nicolin Neal took back her second spot, finishing in 74th place in 15:39, and Jennifer Tyler was only two seconds behind her to get 77th overall. Courtney Stewart crossed the lie at 15:51, finishing 91st to round out the seniors.
Newcomer Marina Santana closed out the scoring for the bulldogs, just over the top 100 in 102nd. Sophomore Zinzi Evans also ran for the Bulldogs, finishing in 110th.
The Bulldogs will go to Riverside next week for their next competition. This is the first year the team will run in this event. UC Riverside finished 16th in the Stanford Invitational.
