Women's tennis player Courtney Jantz was named Toyota/gobulldogs.com Athlete of the Week for her efforts in leading Fresno State past Santa Clara by a score of 6-1 on Saturday at the Wathen Tennis Center. Jantz, a senior from Spring, Texas, teamed with Lucia Sainz at No. 1 doubles to blank Kelly Leathers and Erika Barnes 8-0. Then at No. 4 singles, Jantz cruised past Kimberly Daniel 6-2, 6-1. Jantz was also named the WAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her performance. Jantz is currently ranked 19th nationally in doubles with Sainz and is coming off a very successful fall season that was highlighted by an appearance in the finals of the ITA Northwest Regionals. She is currently 10-2 on the year with Sainz and is 7-6 in singles. Fresno State, ranked 21st in the nation, takes some time off before its next match, which comes Feb. 11 at UC Irvine. |
