Fresno State senior running back Bryson Sumlin has been named the Toyota/gobulldogs.com Athlete of the Week for Oct. 3. The honor is the second for a Fresno State football player this year, with Clifton Smith being recognized on Sept. 12. Sumlin rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries and caught two passes for a team-high 41 yards and a touchdown in a 44-14 win over previously unbeaten Toledo. It was his sixth 100-yard rushing game of his career and moved him into 10th place on the Bulldog career rushing yardage list. Sumlin surpassed 2,000 career rushing yards against the Rockets while scoring his 27th career touchdown. It's the second-time in his career he won the award. He last won it in 2004 when he rushed for more than 200 yards in Fresno State's 70-14 win over Hawaii. Also nominated this week: Robyn Keune (volleyball), Angie Larsen (soccer) and Zinzi Evans (cross country).
