FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State (304-293-300 - 897) shot a third-round 300 to finish second at the Heather Farr/University of Colorado Memorial while placing three golfers in the top 15. Denver won the team title with 884 and San Jose State came in third with 903.
Freshman Taylor Siebert (75-72-71) shot a 1-under 71 in the final round to finish tied for third with 218. Siebert has now captured her third top-15 finish in as many tournaments. Sophomore Laura Luethke tied for seventh with rounds of 78-71-74 - 223. Freshman Jennifer Shipley (75-76-75), after shooting 226, tied for 14th.
Senior Adrianna Chico (76-74-80) tied for 33rd with 230 and junior Brittany Cooley (82-82-86) came in 80th with 250.
"This tournament was huge for us. We beat teams in our region which will help us move up in the rankings," head coach Angie Cates said. "I was pleased to see the girls stay mentally tough all day today and finish strong.
"Taylor has been playing good golf all year. She's just a fighter; she's determined to do well. It's really fun to watch her play."
Fresno State next plays in the New Mexico State Invitational Oct. 17-18 in Las Cruces, N.M.
