The other day I read a quote and it reminded me of the potential of our team. It said: "Adversity causes some people to break; others to break records."
After a tough battle at No. 13 Stanford and a disappointing loss at Utah Valley State, the girls and coaches needed some time to regroup. With our next game not until Monday, we had eight days to get ourselves back on track. We are determined to use these games to motivate us and make sure we keep taking steps toward making our own mark in Fresno State history. We are bouncing back from the rough week and are having good practices. We also had a special guest come to practice- Stacy Dales-Schuman. It was definitely inspiring having a WNBA All-Star in the Save Mart Center with us.
On Tuesday we had a change of scenery with our "Evening of Holiday Cheer." This was our fundraising event for the year and it was a good chance for us to meet and spend some time with many of our devoted supporters. For a nice change we all got out of our usual daily clothes of sweats and t-shirts and into our best evening wear!!! After a good dinner and some social chit-chat, we settled into our seats for a night of laughs. All together it was a great night and the whole team appreciated the support from everyone present at the dinner.
Before our games on the road, we enjoyed a lovely week of Thanksgiving. We spent one night helping serve food to residents of the Lexington Square apartment complex, teaming up with Northside Church and the Clovis Police Department. We also had fun watching the kids on the bounce house and posing for photos on the police motorbike!!! On Thanksgiving Day we went to Community Medical Hospital of Clovis and served lunch to mothers and their newborns. It was exciting to see the little babies (most were just born within a few hours) and their happy families. We all then headed off in different directions for a Thanksgiving lunch of our own.
After a few more practices we are back on the road and off to San Diego to take on the Toreros.
