Women's Golf Finishes Fourth At Bay Area Classic

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The women's golf team (310-319-629) (+53) completed its spring season opener at the Bay Area Classic in fourth place, dropping from a first-place finish after the close of Monday's play. Co-hosts San Francisco (318-307-625) and San Jose State (320-306-626) finished in first and second, respectively.
San Francisco's Mariko Shimozaki (77-73-150) claimed the individual title at six-over.
Freshman Laura Luethke (78-74-152) led the Bulldogs, finishing in a tie for fifth after improving upon her first-round total by four strokes. Meggie Fagundes and Yumi Chung tied for 18th after both carding totals of 83 for a 159 total. Adrianna Chico notched another 80 to end up in a tie for 21st with a 160 total.
Holly Cornell (87-82-169) finished in a tie for 46th. Tiffany Veerkamp (88-74-162), playing as an individual, improved upon her first-round tie for 55th to finish in a tie for 24th.
The Bulldogs return to action March 8-9 when they compete at the Spartan Invitational hosted by San Jose State.
