Bulldogs Take Sixth Overall At Oregon Duck Invitational

JUNCTION CITY, Ore- Fresno State, which checked in fourth through the opening two rounds, finished sixth overall at the Oregon Duck Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, carding a final-round score of 314 to finish at 921 (308-299-314) overall.
Freshman Laura Luethke led the charge individually, winding up in a three-way tie for third overall with a final score of 220 (70-74-76). Luethke, who was tied for second heading into the third round of competition, finished two strokes shy of leader Kay Hoey of Long Beach State at 218 (75-70-73). Washington State's Kim Welch was second with a 219 (73-70-76). Luethke tied for third with California's Sofie Anderson and Oregon's Kimberly McCready.
Fresno State, which finished +57 overall, stood in fourth place among 17 schools entering Tuesday's final round. California ended up winning the team title with a score of 908 (310-296-302) while Oregon was the runner-up with 909 (309-291-309) and Stanford was third at 913 (315-294-304).
Juniors Yumi Chung and Tiffany Veerkamp tied for 20th place overall with scores of 233. Chung carded rounds of 78-75-80, while Veerkamp registered 78-76-79. Chung entered the final round in a tie for 18th while Veerkamp came in to Tuesday in a tie for 22nd.
Junior Meggie Fagundes improved on her 50th place standing and shot a 240 (83-78-79), good for a tie for 44th. Junior Adrianna Chico fell from 30th place and also tied for 44th, recording a 240 (82-74-84).
The Bulldogs are back in action Apr. 4-5, when they host the Fresno State Invitational.
