FRESNO, Calif. - After playing through rainy conditions at the par-70 Stanford Golf Course, Fresno State (295 at +15) stands in a tie for 17th place after one round of the NCAA Men's Golf West Regional. BYU has the lead after shooting a 2-under 278, while Pepperdine is in second with 279 (-1).
"We teed off in pouring rain this morning and had casual water on the first green. It was very tough," head coach Mike Watney said. "Our 15-over is not terrible and is not good. On this course and in these conditions we did OK."
Ryan McDonald was the top Bulldog on the course Thursday, shooting 73 (+3) to stand in a tie for 52nd. Mark Modglin, Ryan Carter and Brian Kelley are all tied for 70th after shooting 74 (+4) each. Jon Rosa registered 75 (+5) and stands in a tie for 90th.
There are 135 golfers from 27 teams as well as six individuals competing in the tournament. Live scoring and results are available on www.golfstat.com.
