Fresno State
Head Coach Margie Wright
"I believe that we are a much better team that what we played today. I am proud of this team for their effort, we just did not execute. Cal came in with a lot of momentum and they were able to build on that. It is very tough to beat somebody who has been there and wants to go back. It's a game of inches and we know that sometimes that is what you lose by. The pitcher did a great job with her change up; it kept us off balance. We faced a very good team today that has been there before and we just did not execute."
Jamie Southern
"The umpire had a wide zone which allowed both pitchers to work the outside and off the plate. They were obviously able to adjust better than we did. I felt strong and ready to go, it just didn't happen for me today."
On the leadoff HR she gave up to Galindo
"I made a good pitch to (Vicky) Galindo; she just went down and got it."
Daisy Gaynor
About Galindo's HR, which Gaynor nearly caught
"I thought I might have a play on the ball, I went back on it knowing the fence was close I reached and just couldn't get it."
California
Head Coach Diane Ninemire
"This team knows what it is like to go to the World Series and they did not want to let it go. We stayed focused and came out with one goal in mind. We prepare for this moment at the start of the year so when the pressure situation comes around we are prepared.
On the pitching of Anderson
"Kelly (Anderson) did a great job today. She pitched really well in the first game and came back strong in the second game. We are one step closer to our goal."
Vicky Galindo
"I just tried to stay with the ball, I didn't think it was going out but it kept going. I was excited, though I thought we would score more runs. We kept making adjustments; we were hitting the ball just waiting for things to happen. Jamie is a great pitcher. We were just able to get to her today. The Long Beach game was definitely a turning point for us."
Kelly Anderson
"I just tried to focus on each pitch. The game can go either way on the swing of a bat. I was able to hit my spots today and it worked for me."
