Bulldogs In Sixth At WAC Championships

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State (314-300 - 614) (+38) improved its second round score by 14 strokes Tuesday as all five Bulldog golfers either bettered or maintained their scores to sustain the team's sixth place position. Tulsa (301-300) holds the lead and is 13 strokes ahead of Fresno State with 601, while SMU (309-293) is in second with 602.
Mark Modglin (78-73) and Ryan McDonald (76-75) are tied for ninth with 151 each. Jon Rosa improved by eight strokes in the second round to shoot 72, good for a 152 total and 15th place tie. Brian Kelley (160) registered another 80 to stand in a tie for 34th. Ryan Carter (81-80 - 161) is in a tie for 36th.
"Jon Rosa's 72 was very solid and Modglin's 73 was good, too, especially after yesterday's round," coach Mike Watney said.
Monday's leader, Tulsa's Sam Korbe (149), fell to eighth after shooting 78, and Will Dodson (72-71 - 143) of SMU now stands in first.
The third and final round will be played tomorrow and tee times are as follows:
- Carter 9:20 a.m.
- Kelley 9:28 a.m.
- Rosa 9:36 a.m.
- Modglin 9:44 a.m.
- McDonald 9:52 a.m.
