DOG ZONE: What are your thoughts in regard to playing mid-week games?
Thomas Boeh: "It will be more competitive now, with more national outlets that are out there. It is going to take some flexibility as well...ESPN is going to put the best games on, with the best teams and the hottest people, and you are going to have to win in order to play your way on to national television. Because of the flexibility that the Fresno community has shown over the last couple years, I think there is some goodwill with the folks in Bristol and we will be again parlaying that to see if we can put ourselves in the best position for our players and fans."
DZ: Where do you stand on using conference officials for non-conference football games?
TB: "I think this is a key issue. We need to take the labels away from officials (a Pac-10 referee, a WAC referee, etc.). It's not fair to the officials or players on either side that we have identification of individuals that are officiating that particular game. It seems to me that officials in college football should be treated the same as they are for the NFL and we should not identify them with an institution or conference. If we can't get ourselves to do that up front, we might need to look at making a rule for using neutral officials for non-conference games...My hope is that someone down the line recognizes this and we can even the playing field."
