Fresno State Receives Top Academic Honors

Fresno, Calif. - The 2005 Academic All-WAC teams for fall sports were released by the Western Athletic Conference today, and 37 Fresno State student-athletes in four sports were honored by the conference. The Bulldogs had a good split among the four sports, as seven athletes from cross country and volleyball were honored along with nine from women's soccer and a record fourteen from football that earned the honor for the fall.
Fresno State's 37 athletes were the most honored out of any school in the WAC, surpassing Boise State and Utah State in that category. In addition, the seven women's cross country athletes honored was tied for the most of any school, and the seven volleyball and fourteen football honorees were the second-most of any school in the conference.
In order to be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA and participated in 50% of their team's contests. Below is the list of Fresno State student-athletes honored for the 2005 fall sports.
