Welcome back Bulldog Fans. Yes, that's right....it's that time of the year again already - it's Lady Bulldogs Basketball Time!!! Your 2006-2007 Lady Bulldogs have already been hard at work for 7 weeks getting ready for an exciting and promising upcoming basketball season.
Time has just flown by since my last entry last season. We have all done so much in the off season both in our personal and basketball lives. This time all of us were lucky enough to get the chance to go home for almost the whole summer. It gave us all a good break from a very long season, and also a good opportunity to have some quality time with our friends and family. One special mention is that our lovely Jasmine married her NFL star- Richard Marshall over the summer break. They had a cute little wedding in Vegas and she looked absolutely stunning with Brittani and Paige as part of her bridal party as well.
On our return to Fresno, we not only reunited after a long break, but we also met the new part of our crew. First, there was LaShaunte Stephens (Nay Nay) who transferred to us from San Francisco. Nay Nay is a native from Fresno and will be a red-shirt junior this year. We also have adopted Nay Nay's friendly dog - Hoops, who seems to be a regular at our weekend activities. We have another transfer from New Mexico - Rachel Majewski. Rachel is from Arizona and will be a red-shirt sophomore, and is currently recovering from knee surgery. We also added Jennifer Leaks (Jen), a junior from Chicago and freshman Brittny Jones (Baby T) from Atlanta. We're very excited to have our newest additions to our team and they have already proved to fit into our system and our team.
Just to let you know what our preseason has been like, here's a sample of a typical week; We have endured 6am conditioning twice a week, three weights sessions, three individual basketball practices, and two open gym sessions. Not to mention we go to school everyday and work hard to keep our grades up. So we have been busy as bees and still are, but we're enjoying it all and excited to get better before season begins.
Throughout preseason, we have also helped out with some community service. We served as ushers at a CASA dinner held at President Welty's house. We helped serve lunch at the Fresno Sportsmans Club. And some of us spoke at elementary schools this week to help with Drug Awareness week.
Well that's the recap of what's been going on so far with Women's Basketball. Our season is very, very soon, and we're happily anticipating taking on our opponents and giving you Bulldog fans something to be excited about.
