Well, the season is off and running and we're already on our second road trip. After a great few opening wins at Utah and then back at home against BYU and UC Irvine, we headed off to Oklahoma to take on the Cowgirls. The game was tough and although we had a lot of Fresno fans in the crowd, we weren't quite able to pull off the win. Now, we're sitting in Oklahoma City Airport, and even though we've had our first loss of the season, we're regrouping and ready to take on CSU Fullerton. We learned a lot from our loss last night, and we will continue to work on our weaknesses to make ourselves a better team.
On the brighter side, we still have had a great start to our season. When we headed off to Utah for our opening game, we were optimistic about our future. We fought hard and played some Bulldog basketball and when we do that we usually come out on top - and that we did! Our home wins against BYU and UC Irvine were very exciting for us and our program. As a whole, we have been coming together well, and we had amazing support from our fans. The home crowds have been growing and growing, and we are hoping it can keep on rising every game.
Before we headed off to Oklahoma on Friday, we had a quick day off to spend Thanksgiving with our friends and family. Many of the girls spent their meal at Nay Nay's house, where her mom entertained them with some hearty, home-cooked food. Jasmine took Brittani back up to Sacramento for some family time. Stevie got to drive down to Paso Robles to see her Uncle, Aunt and Grandma. Jenny spent her Thanksgiving with her grandma in Hanford and Kendra and I spent some time with close family friends. We all had lovely meals and were fortunate to have some down time to relax and enjoy our time with the people close to us.
On Friday morning we had a hard practice in preparation for our two-game road trip. After that we quickly headed off to board our flight to Oklahoma, where there were many friends and family awaiting us. There were many people there, with all of our coaches being from Oklahoma and T-Baby, Brittani, Paige's families all came to visit too. We even had some surprise visits from Jenny and Stevie's families who also made the trip out. The surprises didn't stop there though, Coach Meraz and his family and Coach Champagne and his wife and mom all came to watch us play as well. It was nice to see them all again and have lots of familiar faces in the stands to cheer us on.
With all Fresno State road trips there are always plenty of funny moments. From this trip, some of our moments included finding out that Coach Wiggins had an admirer on the plane to Oklahoma City, Dre saw a roach at Braums after we finished eating, T got the flight attendant to make fun of Brittani over the loudspeaker and there were plenty of jokes through the many bus rides that kept us all amused!
Now we're getting ready to play CSU Fullerton and then we're coming home to take on the Lady Raiders this Friday. We love playing for you - Bulldog Fans, and we promise to always give you our very best, so we hope to see you out there this week.
Go Dogs! - Tella #11
