Unknown location - Fresno State assistant media relations director Ryan Reggiani tracked down Squatch, the most electrifying mascot, from a disclosed location, deep in the dark forest of the Pacific Northwest and chatted one-one-one about his visit to the Save Mart Center.
Squatch will perform prior to and during the Fresno State men's basketball game on Saturday, December 16, at 7 p.m. against Creighton.
Question: You will be at the Fresno State men's basketball game on Saturday night, but you keep your residence somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. How are you getting down to the Central Valley?
Answer: Well... I've become accustomed to first class travel and so it will be first class all the way to Fresno.
Q: I heard that you just found out you are related to Fresno State mascot Timeout?
A: Yes. I'm extremely excited. I know I have a lot of relatives all over the world. So when I found out Timeout was my mother's uncle's third cousin, I couldn't wait to make the trip south.
Q: How long have you been performing at basketball games?
A: My first basketball game came on January 12, 1993. So I've been on the court for 13 years now.
Q: What can fans in attendance look for on Saturday night?
A: Well... I try and bring a little of everything to the experience. There will be a lot of comedy mixed in with acrobatics.
Q: Last question. I know you are busy. What has been the craziest stunt you have performed at a basketball game?
A: Well... one of the craziest things I've done is dunk a ball from over 23 feet, 9 inches away, after being slung across the floor on inline skates. I hit a stationary ramp and flew through the air. It was great.
Thank you for your time, Squatch. Have a safe trip and we will see you at the Save Mart Center Saturday night.
