Fresno, Calif. -
With some long and disappointing road trips behind us, we were definitely ready to come back home and rejuvenate ourselves. This time, we have had the luxury of being at home for the whole week in preparation for San Francisco. This have given us some much needed time to relax and get into our class work as we start taking our final exams for the Fall semester.
So what has been happening with Fresno State Women's Basketball? Well to keep it short and simple - basketball, school, eat and sleep! It seems we have been so busy with everything that this is all we have time for. I must say it's a good thing we all love each other like sisters, otherwise we would get very sick of seeing each other so much! But from all our time together we have plenty of fun stories to share with all of you Bulldog fans.
Our last road trip was a bus trip to Cal and Santa Clara. Although we struggled against the No. 16 team in the nation and then dropped a close one at Santa Clara, we managed to learn a lot from the two games. Winning on the road takes a lot of mental preparation and we are working hard on finding our rhythm on the road, like we have at home.
During our trip, we added some memories worth remembering. In San Francisco, we went for a walk down Pier 39 and had dinner at Bubba Gump's. It was also T-Baby's 22nd birthday so we got everyone in the restaurant to sing Happy Birthday to her. After a team picture under a huge Christmas tree and a quick magic lesson from Houdini's staff, we quickly headed back to our hotel to watch the last episode of "America's Next Top Model." It's been a team habit to watch the show every week, so we definitely could not miss seeing who won. Go Cari-Dee!
When we arrived at Cal, we found ourselves lost in a maze of hallways and staircases. We were running around everywhere trying to find where the court was, because it seemed like every security guard was giving us misleading directions. We ended up taking a long walk through the student recreation center and the public locker rooms and then we eventually found the basketball court and our locker room.
The next morning we headed down to Santa Clara. The weather was starting to turn grey just like our road trip seemed to be as well. We came out of practice and were nearly blown away by the strong winds. Although things didn't feel great, we were optimistic about taking on the Broncos. We even got to become "culturalized" (as Stevie seems to think the word is) or cultured with some Chinese food from P.F. Changs. Even Dre, who only ever eats fries and chicken strips, enjoyed the change of food. Mind you, she still did ask the waitress if they had any fries! To top the day off, as we relaxed in our hotel rooms watching movies, our very loving and caring team manager - Moca, was very kindly washing all of our uniforms and practice gear. Much to our surprise though, her and Kelly (our trainer), were making the most of doing laundry. Half way through our movie I got a picture text from Kelly and our lovely little Moca is actually sitting inside the dryer!
Now we're back at home and for right now we all have our heads buried in our books. Some of us have already begun taking finals, because we will miss some when we travel to Arizona next week. Basketball wise, we are very excited to back at home to take on San Francisco. We would love to see all of you Bulldog fans out there, we're ready to put on a show for you. Then after a quick trip to Arizona, we'll be back at home next Thursday to take on LMU, before we take a break for Christmas.
Go Dogs!
