Fresno State Suffers First Loss of the Season

Santa Barbara, Calif. - The Fresno State men's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season Wednesday night, as UC Santa Barbara snapped the Bulldogs' seven-game winning streak with a 70-42 victory at the Thunderdome in Santa Barbara, CA.
Fresno State had won seven straight games to open the season for the first time since the 1980-81 season. With the loss the Bulldogs fall to 7-1 overall, while UC Santa Barbara improved to 6-2 with the win.
Fresno State was led offensively by Hector Hernandez and Ja'Vance Coleman, who each had 13 points. Wednesday's game marked the first time all season the Bulldogs didn't have four players score in double figures.
Quinton Hosley had six points and eight rebounds and Dominic McGuire had four points and six rebounds.
In the first half, the Bulldogs were held to their low point total of the season. Hernandez led Fresno State with 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Coleman added nine points, including two 3s.
Fresno State shot 30.8 percent from the floor, but the Bulldogs were right around their average from 3-point range, shooting 41.7 percent (5-12).
Fresno State returns to action on Saturday, December 9 when it travels to Bozeman, Mont. to face the Montana State Bobcats at 6 p.m. (PST).

- Fresno State scored a season-low 42 points.
- Wednesday's game marked the first time the Bulldogs didn't have four players reach double figures in scoring.
- Fresno State was held to a season-low 24 points in the first half. The Bulldogs scored 29 points in the first half against South Alabama, in their second game of the season.
- Wednesday's game was the first time the Bulldogs have played at UC Santa Barbara since the 1992 season. The last time Fresno State has won at UCSB was in 1991.
