Amy Parrish Named WAC Player Of The Week

FRESNO, Calif.- Senior forward Amy Parrish (Hanford, Calif.) has been named the Xbox Live WAC Player of the Week for Feb. 27, as announced this afternoon by the conference. The honor is the first for Parrish and second for a women's basketball player this year, as junior guard Chantella Perera was selected for the award two weeks ago.
In two Fresno State victories last week, Parrish was 15-26 from the field and averaged 23.0 ppg and 8.0 rpg. During a 77-60 rout of San Jose State, Parrish recorded her third double-double of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds while capitalizing on her chances at the free throw line, making 12-13. In a 65-55 win at Boise State, Parrish led all scorers with 24 points to match a career-high. She made 10-14 from the field (71.4-percent), knocked down two three-pointers and was the only Bulldog to score in double-figures on the afternoon.
Parrish currently leads Fresno State in scoring (15.5 ppg) and rebounding (6.6 rpg). Her field goal percentage stands at 49.2-percent and she has posted three double-doubles. Parrish has scored in double-figures 20 times and has led the Bulldogs in scoring on 16 different occasions.
Also nominated: Jackie Lee (Boise State), Brittany Grice (Hawai'i), Ty Moore (Louisiana Tech), Dellena Criner (Nevada) and Jenean Ford (New Mexico State).
Fresno State plays its final two games of the regular season this week at home. The Bulldogs host Utah State on Thursday, Mar. 2 at 7 p.m., followed by Nevada on Saturday, Mar. 4 at 2 p.m. Saturday's game against Nevada will also represent Senior Day.
