FRESNO, Calif. - COMMUNITY ADVISORY
The Fresno State Athletics department asks your assistance to protect the community from the following scam.
Individuals representing themselves as members of the Fresno State baseball team have been going door to door seeking cash solicitations to raise funds for a trip to Japan.
There is no such program in place and the Bulldog team is not planning to take any such trip.
Should anyone be approached and asked for solicitations, they are urged not to give any money and contact the Fresno Police Department as soon as possible.
The University Police Department and the Fresno Police Department are working together to get this scam stopped.
The Fresno State Athletics Department issued the following statement:
"It has come to our attention that donations are being sought on behalf of the Fresno State Bulldog baseball team for a trip to Japan. The Fresno State Athletics department does not solicit door to door, has not authorized such a program, nor are there any plans to send the team to Japan. Those seeking such donations are imposters and are in no way associated with or represent the Fresno State Athletics Department. Please report any such activity regarding this to the nearest law enforcement agency."
