Susdorf, Underwood Sweep WAC Weekly Awards

Fresno, Calif. - The Western Athletic Conference has announced the WAC Hitter and Pitcher of the Week Awards, and Fresno State earned both for the week of April 17-23 as sophomore outfielder Steve Susdorf was named WAC Hitter of the Week and Junior Andy Underwood was named WAC Pitcher of the Week.
Susdorf, a sophomore from Newhall, Calif. was 6-for-8 (.750) in three games last week as the Bulldogs took a road series at San Jose State. Susdorf was 2-for-3 on Friday with a double, had a pinch-hit RBI single on Saturday and was 3-for-4 on Sunday. For the week, Susdorf had a total of three runs and drove in two. This marks the second time that Susdorf has been named the conference hitter of the week, and the fourth for a Bulldog player this year.
Underwood, a junior from Madera, Calif. threw a complete-game shutout in Fresno State's 4-0 win over San Jose State on Sunday. He allowed just four hits, one walk and struck out seven. It was the first complete-game shutout for a Bulldog pitcher this year. This is the first WAC Pitcher of the Week award for Andy Underwood. Eddie Romero has also previously won the award for Fresno State in 2006.
