| Fresno State seniors Lucia Sainz and Katharina Winterhalter of the women's tennis team have been named the Toyota/gobulldogs.com athletes of the week for May 31. This is the second honor of the year for the doubles team, as they claimed the award back on Oct. 10. Sainz and Winterhalter won four straight doubles matches in last week's NCAA Tournament to reach the national final, where they lost 6-4, 6-1 to Northwestern's Cristelle Grier and Alexis Prousis. They upset No. 2 Applebaum/Cohen of Miami in the quarterfinals and beat No. 6 Anundsen/Long in the semifinals. Sainz and Winterhalter represent the only Fresno State women's doubles team to reach an NCAA doubles final. The NCAA Championships match was the duo's second appearance in a national final in 2005-06, as they were runner-ups at the ITA All-American Championships in October. Also nominated: Ozzie Lewis (baseball), Ryan Moore (men's track and field), Katie Richardson (women's track and field).
