Holes being dug in the ground, large construction machines and a handful of workers were good signs that the new electronic entertainment centers being installed in both Bulldog Stadium and on the corner of Cedar and Barstow are on track.
The two projects will not only enhance the game day atmosphere in Bulldog Stadium but will provide Fresno State with a state of the art messaging center to inform the public of a variety of activities on campus.
The installation of the new electronic entertainment center, which will include a larger video screen and digital adverting panels, is underway in Bulldog Stadium. Construction has also begun for a large video marquee message center located on the corner of Cedar and Barstow, directly across the street from the Bulldog Shop.
The project, spearheaded by Fresno State's multimedia rights partner Learfield Communications (DBA Bulldog Sports Properties), will provide Bulldog fans with a 24' x 32' video screen and new auxiliary scoreboard at the north end of the stadium. In addition, a new video marquee will be installed on the corner of Cedar and Barstow Avenues, which will also enhance marketing and revenue opportunities. Both systems will have state of the art LED message and video boards.
The new video board will be larger than the previous portable video screen (16' x 22') that was located in the northeast corner of the stadium and will be one of the largest video screens in a collegiate venue on the west coast. The new scoreboard and video board systems will be built into a stylish archway that will be constructed above the north end zone entrance to Bulldog Stadium.
Daktronics, a nationally renowned leader in electronic scoreboards, programmable displays and large screen video systems, is building the new electronic entertainment center and marquee board. Daktronics has provided recent video board systems for Texas (new in 2006), Iowa, Florida, Wisconsin, Clemson, Missouri, Georgia and the San Francisco 49ers.
This new electronic entertainment center is scheduled to be completed and in operation by the Colorado State game on Sept. 30. A temporary video screen will be available for the first two home games.
