| Freshman Vanessa Heroux has been named the Toyota/gobulldogs.com Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 25. It is the first time in her career that Heroux has earned the honor. Last weekend in Fresno State's annual Bulldog Classic, Heroux played in 11 matches (seven singles matches, four doubles). She won five singles matches and three doubles matches. In singles, Heroux lost in the main draw's round of 32. However, she continued to play hard, advancing all the way to the consolation final before falling in a supertiebreaker. In doubles, Heroux and teammate Tinesta Rowe were outstanding. They dominated in the first two rounds, winning 8-1 and 8-2. In the semifinals, Heroux and Rowe beat a tough tandem from Sacramento State 8-6 to reach the final. Heroux is the first from the women's tennis team to be named Athlete of the Week this season. Also nominated this week was: Alison Pitton (Volleyball).
