Fresno, Calif. - Check out the photos here!
For the last few weeks, the Bulldogs have taken a break from school and have had the chance to focus solely on our basketball. The winter break has given us some much-needed rest from school and also the opportunity to explore some different aspects of basketball.
One aspect that we do not usually have a lot of involvement in is scouting the opponent. With our days free from school, we took the opportunity to watch extra film on both San Jose State and Hawaii. We spent hours and had lots of discussion about our opposition and we put together our first team scout. It was a new experience for all of us and it definitely gave us a better insight into our opponents and also helped us appreciate the work that our coaches put in to scouting our opponents for us every game.
It was nice to be back at home for a couple of games and it was especially helpful when we took Hawaii to overtime. After the close loss at Utah State, we knew we couldn't let another close conference game go by us. With the crowd on our side, we took the momentum and thankfully sealed the game away.
Prior to our two game homestand, we took to the road for our opening conference road trip. We first made our way to Idaho. On the way there, we had all picked our favorite song that we thought motivated the team best. So on the bus we listened to 12 different songs, and it was really interesting to hear the different songs we all chose. We had a good mix of genres which included rap, rock, old R & B and gospel. After listening to the songs, Dre was inspired by all the music and decided to challenge BG to a sing off. After she took down BG, she then made the mistake of taking on Paige. For those of you who don't know, Paige can REALLY sing, and she definitely blew Dre away!
From Idaho we went on to Utah State. It seemed like everywhere we went the snow followed. It snowed heavily in Idaho and it snowed again on us in Utah too. So much so, that Stevie's parents just avoided an avalanche while trying to drive from Colorado to Utah to watch us play.
There were many photos from the trip and I have also included some photos from previous trips so you can see what the Lady Bulldogs get up to off the court.
This week we head off to San Jose State, and then we're back home against Nevada next Thursday.
Oh, and a quick mention that last week it was Coach Jones' birthday and on Monday it was Stevie's 20th birthday. Happy birthday ladies!!!
See you all next Thursday when we take on the Wolf Pack.
Go Dogs!
