Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno State athletics department, along with local safety and emergency agencies are holding a "Public Safety Day" Saturday, January 13 before the Fresno State women's basketball game against Hawaii at the Save Mart Center.
Public Safety Day will begin at 11 a.m. in Lot 4 and will last until 12:30 p.m., leading to the women's basketball game at 1 p.m. in the Save Mart Center. Doors for the women's game open at 12 p.m. Lot 4 is located near the Northwest entrance.
The event will feature Fresno Fire Department, Fresno County Fire, Clovis Police Department, Clovis Fire Department, California Highway Patrol and Fresno County Sheriff officials, along with vehicles from all agencies.
"Anytime we can be the conduit to bring the Public Safety agencies and the community together is a great opportunity for us here at Fresno State," Associate Athletics Director for External Relations Paul Ladwig said. "One of the interesting points for this Public Safety day is that we have events for everyone, including the kids and adults."
Free bicycle helmets for kids and smoke detectors will be given out, along with finger printing. Freddie the Fire Engine and Sparky will be in attendance, along with Timeout and pictures with all will be available. There will also be plenty of fire prevention information.
