Fresno State Defeats CSU Bakersfield in Dual Match

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's golf team defeated CSU Bakersfield at the Sunnyside Country Club in Fresno, Calif., Saturday. The Bulldogs hosted the one day, one round dual match to add extra tournament experience for the players. Fresno State scored a 313 beating CSU Bakersfield's score of 340.
With a line-up of six, the best four scores were counted. Taylor Siebert led the `Dogs with a 75 for the low round of the day. Laura Luethke shot a round of 78 and Jenna Buchanan contributed with a 79. Hali Coppin and Angelica Villareal scored an 81. Chelsea Czinski scored an 85 and Pia Escandon played as an individual with a score of 78. The Bulldogs also used the tournament to qualify for the upcoming Kent Youel Tournament in Kapolei, Hawaii, on Oct. 30-31.
"Taylor had a great round today in some windy conditions, her scoring average has improved greatly from last year," said Angie Cates. "The golf course was in great condition and we are looking forward to hosting our conference championship at Sunnyside in April."
The low round for CSU Bakersfield was an 82 from Jenna Barnett. Katie Walker participated in her first collegiate tournament today for CSU Bakersfield and scored a 102, playing with a prosthetic leg.
