Fresno State junior Tinesta Rowe has been named the Toyota/gobulldogs.com Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 22. Rowe is the first member of the women's tennis team to win the honor this season. Rowe, along with teammate Melanie Gloria, won the prestigious Northwest Regional Championships doubles title on Oct. 22. Rowe and Gloria were fabulous during the four-day tournament, winning five matches including an 8-6 win in the title match. Rowe and Gloria have won eight straight matches and are currently ranked No. 11 in the country. Rowe also had an outstanding tournament in singles play. She beat No. 9 Celia Durkin of Stanford in three sets during the round of 32 before eventually advancing to the quarterfinals. In a region packed with nationally-ranked players from Cal and Stanford, Rowe's feat was all the more impressive. Other student-athletes nominated were: Andrea Alires (soccer), Tairyn Rasmussen (volleyball), Tejesvi Veerepalli (men's tennis), and Kyle Zimmerman (football). 2007-08 Athletes of the Week:
