Portland Defeats Liberty

FRESNO, Calif. - The University of Portland defeated Liberty 73-62 in the final day of the World Vision Classic presented by Pape'. The win ups Portland's record to 1-2 while Liberty dropped to 0-3.
Portland had four players in double figures led by Walter Thompson's 15 points in 21 minutes of action. Jared Stohl had 12 points, Robin Smeulders added 11 and Luke Sikma chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Portland shot 46 percent from the field and out rebounded the Flame 35-30. Portland also forced Liberty into 17 turnovers.
Other than a 10-8 Liberty lead with 14:35 to play in the first half, Portland led the entire game. The Pilots led 34-31 at halftime. In the second half Portland went on an 18-7 run to take 65-51 lead with 4:04 left in the game.
Portland maintained its double digit lead the rest of the game.
Alex McLean led Liberty with 19 points and TeeJay Bannister added 17.
