Bulldogs Fall to DePaul in Final Game of UNLV Invitational

LAS VEGAS - The Fresno State softball team fell to DePaul in extra innings 1-0 in the final game of the UNLV Invitational, Sunday at Eller Media Stadium. In a pitchers' duel, the game remained scoreless until DePaul's Linda Secka drove in Katie Hanson from third for the winning run. The `Dogs fell to 11-8 on the year, while DePaul improved to 12-5.
Sophomore right-hander Robin Mackin took the hard-luck loss, allowing the only run on eight hits and two walks while striking out six.
Junior Ashley White singled to center in the second for Fresno State's only hit. She also made a stellar stop at third base in the third.
DePaul's Tracie Adix got the win for the Demons, allowing no runs on one hit while striking out 11.
Fresno State completed the UNLV Invitational with a 3-2 record, including wins over No. 18 California and No. 23 Nebraska.
The Bulldogs return home for a double header on Tuesday, March 6, when they host Connecticut at 6 p.m. at Bulldog Diamond. Fresno State also hosts its annual Bulldog Classic this week beginning on Thursday, March 8.
