Bulldogs In 12th After Two Rounds of Cougar Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - Sophomore Matt Shaw shot a second-round two-under 70 as the 'Dogs finished off the first day of the BYU Cougar Classic. After a first-round 74, Shaw bounced back with the solid second round, vaulting back to even-par for the tournament and into an eight-way tie for 22nd.
The Bulldogs are currently in 12th place after the first two rounds with a team score of 588 (293 - 295). BYU currently leads the tournament, while BYU's Jake Ellison leads individually at 11-under.
For Fresno State, sophomore Matt Ryan opened with a three-under 69, but struggled in the second round, shooting a 76. He sits at one-over for the tournament, just one shot back of Shaw.
Freshman Grant Doverspike is tied for 47th (72-76-148), senior Gunnar Avinelis is tied for 72nd (78-73-151) and freshman Brad Wyatt is tied for 87th (78-77-155).
The 'Dogs are back in action tomorrow for the final round of the Cougar Classic.
