FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's golf coach Angie Cates has announced the signing of Chelsea Czinski to the 2007-08 women's golf roster. Czinski signed her national letter of intent last week to declare her spot on the team.
Czinski spent her freshman and sophomore years at Oak Ridge High School in her hometown El Dorado Hills, Calif. before attending the IMG Academy in Florida. There she has won three low round awards for the FCWT golf junior tour.
Czinski comes to Fresno State with an impressive resume. She has competed and finished near the top in many national events. She tied for third place at the Leadbetter Open at IMG with a low round of 73. She also tied for sixth at the Mission Inn Classic with her low round of 71. With a low score of 72 she took sixth place at the World Woods Rolling Classic.
"She comes in with a lot of national exposure that has prepared her to face the best players in the country," Cates said. "Her desire and her commitment are going to take her very far in this sport. We are looking forward to her succeeding at Fresno State."
Czinski has also taken first place in many local and high school events proving to be a consistent golfer. Czinski is also a very active student as she is a part of the IMG Student Council and she belongs to her Pendleton High School's leadership committee.
"Chelsea is going to be a great addition to our program," Cates said. "Having spent the last two years at IMG has really prepared her for being a collegiate student athlete. The transition will be very smooth for her."
