Bulldogs Tied for Eighth at Peg Barnard

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's golf team is tied for eighth place out of 13 with a first round of 307 after day one at the Peg Barnard California Collegiate in Stanford, Calif. Denver (286/+2) is the current leader with a one stroke lead over Stanford (287/+3) this afternoon at the par 71, 6,037 yard Stanford Golf Course. Rounding out the top five are Long Beach State (289), San Jose State (298) and Hawaii (301).
Junior Laura Luethke is tied for 14th place to lead the Bulldogs carding a three over par 74. Taylor Siebert followed close behind with a 75 to tie for 21st. Jennifer Shipley shot a 78 to tie for 36th. Pia Escandon (80) tied for 47th and Tiffany Veerkamp (82) tied for 59th place.
Long Beach State's Kay Hoey shot a blistering six under par 65 today to take a four-stroke lead on the individual leaderboard. Denver's Stephanie Sherlock is second with a two-under 69.
Competition wraps up with the final 18 holes tomorrow at the Stanford Golf Course. Teams will tee-off at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
