Stephens Scores 17 at Boise State

BOISE, Idaho - The Fresno State women's basketball team lost at Boise State 82-62 on Monday night at Taco Bell Arena. The loss ended the Bulldogs nine game win streak and dropped their record to 11-9 and 6-1 in WAC play while Boise State improved to 13-6 and 5-2 in conference.
The nine straight wins tied a school record that three previous teams had set. Fresno State remains atop the WAC by a half game over Nevada who is 5-1 in conference play.
"Credit Boise State," Fresno State coach Adrian Wiggins said. "They were a little quicker, physical and tougher than us tonight. They deserved to win. We have done some good things to this point of the season. We split with Boise State who was picked to be the champions in our league. We just have to refocus and get ready for Nevada."
LaShaunte Stephens led Fresno State with 17 points and five rebounds while Jaleesa Ross had 12 points. The Bulldogs shot 33 percent from the floor and out rebounded the Broncos 38-31. Bailey Amundsen also had five rebounds in the game.
Fresno State fell behind 30-13 with 7:20 to play until halftime. The Dogs then went on a 14-5 run to close out the half to cut Boise State's lead to 35-27 at the break.
Fresno State got no closer than eight points the rest of the game. The Broncos led 55-47 after a Ross 3-pointer with 10:40 to play. But Boise State put the game away with a 20-5 run to lead 77-52 with 3:34 to play.
Fresno State returns to the floor on Thursday when they play host to the University of Nevada at the Save Mart Center. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. The game can be heard live on 790 ESPN Radio, the Deuce and seen on Comcast Channel 14.
