FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State volleyball team looks to improve its 2-2 WAC (5-8 overall) record and third place standing in the WAC as it hosts the Broncos of Boise State on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Save Mart Center.
Boise State is 1-2 in WAC play and 4-9 overall. Hawai'i leads the conference with a 5-0 record followed by New Mexico State at 3-1.
This will be just the second WAC home match for Fresno State as they hosted San Jose State last Saturday. The Boise State match is the second of four-straight home matches for the Bulldogs.
Last season the Bulldogs and Broncos split the regular season series 1-1, each winning on the opponents' home court. Fresno State leads the overall series 13-5. Boise State won the last meeting on Oct. 4, 2007.
"The great thing about our conference right now is the parody in the middle," said head coach Lauren Netherby-Sewell. "Boise State has some seasoned players who are really settling into their roles, so they will present challenges. But too, it's a matter of - who's going to show up that night. Boise State had a rough preseason, but as of late showed improvement. With that said, Fresno State is learning how to be focused and confident at home. If we can learn to apply what we've learned on the road to a home match then the win is up for grabs."
The match will be aired live on Comcast Local 14 with Randy Rosenbloom and Brian Tsukimura calling the action from the Save Mart Center. Guy Haberman will also be calling the match live on 790 ESPN Radio the Deuce.
"Join the State - Fresno State!" - The `Dogs continue WAC play at the Save Mart Center Thursday, October 2 against Boise State at 7:00 p.m. It's Take a Kid to the Game Night and all kids 8th grade and under receive free admission with a paid adult ticket. Tickets are on sale now through the Save Mart Center Box Office, by calling (559) 485-TIXS or online at ticketmaster.com.
