Fresno State Finishes Sixth at Nevada Wolfpack Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State (280-290-294 - 864) completed the Wolfpack Classic today hosted by Nevada, finishing in sixth place shooting an even par. The Dogs had two players finish in the Top-20.
New Mexico State won the team title with 847. Arizona took home second place after finishing five strokes behind the leader. Tennessee finished in third with a total of 857.
Grant Doverspike (70-72-72-217/-2) led the Dogs. He shot an even par to finish the third round and take 12th. Sophomore Michael Gideon (69-72-75-216) tied for 16th, shooting even for the tournament. Junior Todd Angel tied for 21st place with rounds of 70-74-73- 217. Tying for 38th place was senior, Matt Ryan (74-72-724-220), and sophomore Bryan Hogan (71-74-75-220). They both shot four-over par for the tournament. Freshman Brian Sunker finished in 61st place with totals of 80-76-75-231, after competing in his first collegiate tournament.
"This was a great lesson for us," Coach Watney said. "Every stroke counts. This team has the potential to win but we have a few things to get better at."
Dustin Garza of Wichita State claimed the individual title with 205.
Fresno State next competes in the SDSU Sycuan Collegiate Invitational Oct. 20-21.
