FRESNO, Calif. - Sophomore Meghan Moss became the starting libero at Louisiana Tech on Sept. 20 and has helped lead the Bulldogs in the right direction this season. She sat down with www.gobulldogs.com for a Q&A to discuss her playing career and her expectations for the team now and in the future.
How did you get started playing volleyball?
I started out when I was in fourth grade. It just started as an extra activity and then obviously I grew to love it so I continued to play club and then in college.
What is your greatest accomplishment so far as an athlete?
Being named first-team all-league my senior year of high school.
What do you still hope to accomplish in the future?
Here at Fresno State I hope to get some sort of record, possibly in digs since that's pretty much what a libero can get. I would like to set the record for Fresno State or in the WAC.
Who was your most influential role model?
My high school coach was a big influence on me. She played herself at Notre Dame so she has a lot of experience. My club coaches also sent me on the right path and were big role models.
What is the best advice you have ever received from a coach?
Something I have heard from several coaches that I have had at higher levels is that at the libero position is to be an animal. They say because you need to go for everything and give it your all.
What is your most memorable moment in sports?
In Reno during club season my last year there on the 18 team, we beat the third place team which is huge because the Reno festival has hundreds of teams so it was a really good feeling.
How has this years' success been so far?
I think it's really good. We have definitely taken so many steps forward. We have had some setbacks at times but we are headed in the right direction. Everyone has a good attitude and we all want this really bad so changes are going to be seen.
What is your favorite quote from coach Netherby-Sewell?
"Luck is when opportunity meets preparation."
Why did you choose Fresno State?
I visited three times and I loved being around the girls and I liked the atmosphere of Fresno State and the community. It's all about the sports here and that's what I love about it.
