Wiggins Signs 6-3 Center

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's basketball coach Adrian Wiggins has announced the signing of 6-3 center Jeanna Furst to a National Letter of Intent for the 2009-10 season. Furst is a senior this year at Xavier Preparatory High School in Phoenix, Ariz., and she is coached by former WNBA star Jennifer Gillom.
"We are excited to add a student-athlete of Jeanna's caliber," Fresno State coach Adrian Wiggins said. "She will be a low-post presence and we really needed to add a true center to our program. She is a great student and a great athlete."
As a junior, Furst averaged 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocks a game while earning First Team All-Region honors. In her sophomore year she scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds a contest. She is a two-year team captain for her high school team.
Furst has played AAU ball for six years on the Arizona Elites and the Arizona Thunder. She currently plays for the Arizona Thunder where she averaged 7.1 points and 7.8 rebounds in the top tournaments in the country at Chicago and Portland this past summer.
Furst is an excellent student in the classroom as she boats a 3.93 GPA.
