FRESNO, Calif.- Two swimmers earned season bests Saturday afternoon at the West YMCA pool in Boise, Idaho in the `Dogs second WAC match-up of the season against the Broncos of Boise State, falling 199-106.
Freshman Heidi Gjoen (Oslo, Norway) and junior transfer Mary Tess Taylor (Granite Bay, Calif.) earned season bests in their respective events.
"We stumbled a bit but it was an okay day," said head coach Jeanne Fleck. "The girls were tired but we had some highlights, just not as many as we've had in previous meets this season."
Taylor made strides in the 1000 freestyle event, earning a season best, while Gjoen continued to showcase her strengths in backstroke, placing second in the 200 backstroke and earned a season high in the 100 backstroke finishing in 59.07. Those are two events Gjoen has excelled in this season.
Junior Kendra Weeks (Folsom, Calif.) earned a third place in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 174.29 followed by Jaime Krause (Fresno, Calif.) in fourth with 158.39. Weeks also finished third in the 3-meter event, followed by teammate junior Blair Hopkins (Fresno, Calif.) in fourth.
"I'm very pleased with today's meet," said head diving coach Taryn Ignacio.
