`Dogs Season Ends in WAC Quarterfinals

HONOLULU, Hawai'i - The Fresno State volleyball team's season ended Thursday night at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, Hawai'i in the quarterfinals of the WAC Tournament. The Bulldogs fell in three sets to No. 1 seed New Mexico State by set scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-22. Fresno State ends the season with a 7-20 overall record.
The Bulldogs hung in with the Aggies in set one early, down by only one at 11-10. New Mexico State would go on a five-point run to open up the set and win set one on a kill at 25-17.
Brianna Clarke and Baylee Platt each had four kills a piece to lead the `Dogs who hit .172 in set one.
Down 10-6 early, the Bulldogs fought back to cut the lead to one at 11-10 but the Aggies would score four-straight points to take set two, 25-17 and a 2-0 lead in the match.
Fresno State took an early 4-3 lead in set three and would maintain the lead until the Aggies had four-straight kills to take a 15-13 lead. The Aggies would hang on to win set three and the match, ending the Bulldogs season.
New Mexico State moves into the quarterfinals of the WAC Tournament along with San Jose State, Idaho and the winner of tonight's Hawai'i vs. Boise State match.
Platt led the `Dogs with 14 kills on the night while Allanah Munson had a double-double with 22 assists and 10 digs. Platt finished with 318 kills on the season, passing fellow bulldog Lacey Gera on the freshman list for third place.
