Bulldogs Prepare for WAC Tournament

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State soccer heads to Reno, Nev. for the WAC Tournament. The tournament runs from Nov. 6-9 and is hosted by Nevada. The Bulldogs will play Friday, Nov. 7, at 5:30 p.m.
The No. 2 seeded Bulldogs earned a bye the first round of play after finishing second in the Western Athletic Conference. The `Dogs will face the winner of Thursday's match between host Nevada and defending champion Hawai'i.
Fresno State finished the regular season with an 9-8-2 mark. Senior forward Nicole Gutierrez led the Bulldogs with seven goals and 14 points. Both Molly Nizzoli and Ali Sill concluded regular season with 11 points. Nizzoli recorded four goals and three assists, while Sill recorded three goals and five assists.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlyn Revel closed out the season with 10 shutouts and allowed only one goal in conference play.
In 2005, the Bulldogs finished in a four-way tie for second place in theconference with a 4-2-1 record but went into the tournament at Boise State as the No. 5 seed after the tie breaker procedures.
Fresno State went on to win the tournament and a bid to the NCAA tournament for only the second time in school history.
Last year, the Bulldogs opened the first round of the tournament against Nevada winning, 1-0. The `Dogs advanced to the final round of the tournament and lost to Hawai'i, 1-0.
