Rowe, Siwy Receive WAC Player of the Week Honors

FRESNO, Calif. - Juniors Tinesta Rowe and Rudolf Siwy swept the Western Athletic Conference for honors and won both WAC Players of the week for the week of Feb. 11.
Rowe, a junior from Ocho Rios, Jamaica was named the WAC Player of the week for the week of Feb. 11. Rowe was also named the WAC Player of the Month back in October.
Rowe along with her doubles partner Melanie Gloria won all three of their doubles matches this weekend at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The pair is ranked No. 1 in the country beating No. 7 Lui and Murray of Northwestern in the tiebreaker. In singles, Rowe went 2-0 beating Ina Hadzisleimovic of Clemson and Mayori Franco of Arkansas in three-sets. Rowe clinched the match agaisnt Arkansas giving the Bulldogs a 4-3 victory over the Razorbacks.
Rowe is now 14-3 overall and 2-0 in dual matches. In doubles, she is 16-2 overall and 4-0 in dual.
This is the fifth WAC honor of the season for the Bulldogs.Tinesta along with her teammates, Anastasia Petukhova and Melanie Gloria recieved WAC honors this season. Petukhova was named WAC Player of the Month for the months of September and November, while Melanie Gloria was named the WAC Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 22.
Men's Tennis standout Rudolf Siwy, a Junior from Trinec, Chech Republic was also named the WAC Player of the Week.
Fresno State junior Rudolf Siwy shinned last weekend in Fresno State's dominating wins over Hawai'i and Oregon. Siwy won in both doubles and singles leading the Bulldogs to a 6-1 victory over Hawai'i. Ranked No. 92 in the country, Siwy played at the No. 1 spot against the Warriors and beat Dennis Lajola 6-3, 6-2. Against Oregon, Siwy played a phenomenal singles match, beating Marcos Verdasco in staight sets including a tiebreaker in the second set. Siwy and doubles partner Taylor Leiby defeated Oregon's Embry and Wiechert 8-5, and Mendoza and Lajola of Hawai'i 8-4.
Siwy is now 5-1 in dual matches and 12-5 overall.
