Bulldogs Gear Up for New Mexico State

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's basketball team travels closes out the regular season playing two of its final three games on the road. The Bulldogs begin the stretch with back-to-back games against New Mexico State. Fresno State plays at New Mexico State on Saturday at 6 p.m. and then hosts the Aggies on Thursday, March 6 on Senior Night. Both games can be heard live on 790 ESPN Radio, the Deuce.
Fresno State is 16-10 overall and 11-2 in WAC play. They sit in a first place tie with Boise State who is also 11-2. New Mexico State is 19-6 and 9-3 in conference play.
Scouting New Mexico State
New Mexico State is 19-6 and in third place in the WAC with a 9-3 record. The Aggies are 13-1 at home. Sherell Neal leads New Mexico State in scoring and rebounding at 14.4 points and 9.9 rebounds a contest. Anikia Jawara is scoring 12.6 points and averaging 6.6 rebounds while Madison Spence is tallying 10 points a game. The Aggies are scoring 68.8 points a game and shooting 42 percent from the field.
Bulldogs against New Mexico State
The series with the Aggies is tied at 5-5. Last year the two teams split the series with Fresno State winning 63-57 at the Save Mart Center and New Mexico State winning 67-63 in Las Cruces.
Strong Play in Conference
The Bulldogs are out scoring opponents 71-57 in conference play. In the first half of WAC games the Bulldogs are scoring 35 points to 26 points by their opponent.
Love at Home
Fresno State is out scoring opponents 74-53 at the Save Mart Center in WAC play. The Dogs have beaten Idaho by 30, Utah State by 17, Nevada by 32, San Jose State by 18, Hawai'i by 20, Boise State by 10 and Louisiana Tech by 23.
Bulldogs Break the Single Season 3-point record
The Bulldogs 10 3-pointers in the win at Louisiana Tech broke the single season record for most 3-pointers in a season. The Dogs have connected on 205 three's and the previous record was 166 set by the 2002-03 team. The Bulldogs are one of only four schools in the country to make 200 3-pointers or more. Fresno State set the single season attempts record for 3-pointers at Hawaii with its 27 attempts. The Dogs have attempted 593 three's and the previous record was 561 by the 2002-03 team.
Strong Finish
Since Adrian Wiggins has been head coach at Fresno State his teams have finished the season strong. In the month of February the Bulldogs are 19-6 and 23-7 in the last two months of the regular season.
3's a Charm
Jaleesa Ross has nailed a three in 17 straight games. She has hit at least three 3-pointers in 13 of the 17 games.
Ross Setting 3-point records
Jaleesa Ross is in second place for the most 3-pointers made in a season with 71. She needs 19 more 3-pointers to break the single season record set by Lindsay Logan in 2000-01 with 89. The Bulldog freshman needs just two 3-point attempts to move into the single season top 10.
Wilson Moves Into Elite Company
Tierre Wilson moved into the top 10 for career point leaders at Fresno State at San Jose State. She currently sits in eighth place with 1,237 points and needs 38 points to move into seventh place. She is 10th for most steals in school history with 156 steals. Wilson's 11.8 points per game average for her career moves her into 10th place for career scoring average at Fresno State.
