Bulldogs Finish in 12th at UNLV Invite

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's golf team finished the third round at the UNLV Spartan Invitational in 12th place out of 18 teams on Wednesday. The Bulldogs shot a third round 296 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. BYU caught up with Washington State with a low round 282 to tie for first place. Oregon finished in third place 10-strokes back from the leaders.
Junior Taylor Siebert tied for 16th place on Wednesday to finish with an even 216. Siebert birdied holes six, seven and eight before ending the final round with a double bogey on nine to shoot a 2-over 74.
"Taylor is having a great spring season," said head coach Angie Cates. "She has really stepped up for us and has been helping us each week. We are really proud of the progress she has made."
Hali Coppin shot the low round for the Bulldogs in the third round with her career low 71. Coppin tied for 30th place to finish 5-over with 221. Pia Escandon and Laura Luethke tied for 60th place with 13-over 229. Chelsea Czinski tied for 70th finishing with a 76 on Wednesday.
"Hali had a great tournament and a wonderful finishing round," Cates said. "She played really steady golf today and she has become someone we can count on in the line-up every week. I'm also proud of Chelsea. She improved each round this week and she did a great job for her first time in the line-up. I think she can be a solid No. 5 for us."
Cathryn Bristow of Oregon won the individual title with an 8-under 208.
The Bulldogs will take spring break off before traveling to Sacramento State for the Western Regional Preview on March 31- April 1.
