Bulldogs head the Southern California for Two Matches

FRESNO, Calif. - Bulldogs head the Southern California for Two Matches The 16th-ranked women's tennis team will travel to southern California this week for two matches. On Thursday at 1 p.m. Fresno State will battle against 10th-ranked USC. The `Dogs are 1-10 against the Trojans. On Saturday the Bulldogs will compete against Harvard at 11 a.m. The Bulldogs own a 6-6 record against Harvard.
Last Weekend's Recap Senior Jacqueline Haskett delivered a thrilling victory in the tiebreaker of the second set, sending No. 16 Fresno State to a 4-3 victory over No. 21 Denver on Friday evening at the Wathen Tennis Center. After the Pioneers had won the doubles point, Fresno State needed four wins in singles play to come from behind. The team won its second-straight match os the weekend with a 6-1 win over Brigham Young on Saturday. The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead after the doubles point and won five of six singles matches to secure the victory.
Fresno State Plays Tough at ITA National Team Indoors The Bulldogs participated in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships and came away with some solid results. The Bulldogs gave No. 3 Northwestern all it could handle in the opening round before falling 4-1 to the Wildcats. The Bulldogs won the doubles point in all three of its matches. Fresno State beat No. 16 Clemson 5-1, then topped Arkansas 4-3 on the final day of competition. Junior Tinesta Rowe shined over the weekend, winning all three of her doubles matches and clinching Fresno State's 4-3 win over Arkansas in a three-set thriller over Maryori Franco.
No. 2 Gloria and Rowe Remain Strong in Dual Matches Juniors Melanie Gloria and Tinesta Rowe continue to play efficient tennis as the No. 2-ranked doubles team. Gloria and Rowe have won 27 matches overall this season and 11 dual matches.They have wins over six ranked opponents. Gloria and Rowe beat No. 7 Lui and Murray of Northwestern on Feb. 7, then beat Clemson's and Arkansas' No. 1 doubles tandems, all at the ITA Indoor Team Championships.
Double Trouble Sophomores Renata Kucerkova and Anastasia Petukhova have also been solid as a tandem, giving Fresno State a one-two punch in the doubles lineup. This duo currently ranks No. 26 in the country and boasts an incredible 28-6 overall record. One of their big victories came in an 8-6 defeat of No. 12 Kaluder and Miseviciute of Arkansas.
