No. 18 Bulldogs Fight Hard in First Home Match

FRESNO, Calif. - The 18-ranked Fresno State Women's Tennis team returned home for their first home match of the season against 26-ranked William and Mary. The 'Dogs put up a good fight against the Tribe, but fell 5-2 on Friday.
The Bulldogs started out strong in doubles, but fell short 3-1. Playing at the No. 2 spot, 25-ranked sophomores Renata Kucerkova and Anastasia Petukhova defeated Acharya and Kasztelaniec 8-3. Kucerkova and Petukhova were down 0-3 in the beginning of the match, than won 8 games in a row to win it.
In singles, playing at the No. 2 spot, 20-ranked Petukhova won her matches early defeating Katarina Zoricic with straight sets, 6-0, 6-3.
Senior Jacqueline Haskett played at the No. 5 spot and fought hard to win her match. She won her first set in a tie-breaker, defeating Lauren Sabacinkski 7-6 (7-0). Haskett breezed through her second set and won 6-0.
The Bulldogs will continue to play at home on March 21 as they take on No. 24 Denver at 5 p.m. at the Wathen Tennis Center.
