No. 16 Bulldogs Dominate Wolfpack, 6-1

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's tennis team, currently 16th-ranked in the country dominated the match against the Nevada Wolfpack wining 6-1 on Saturday at the Wathen Tennis Center. The momentum was high as the 'Dogs and the Wolfpack entered into the doubles matches and it continued throughout the rest of the match.
In doubles, Fresno State got an early advantage point when Anastasia Petukhova and Renata Kucerkova breezed past Nevada's Dinh and Hall 8-2 at the No. 2 spot. Not soon after, Nevada tied the points 1-1 with a win at the No. 3 spot.
The doubles point was decided on court No. 1 when No. 4-ranked Melanie Gloria and Tinesta Rowe battled No. 58-ranked Mizyuk and Bailly in a tiebreaker. The match came down to a tie-breaker after the teams had been flip-flopping games back and forth. The final score was a win for Gloria and Rowe, 9-8 (5).
Winning the doubles point gave the Bulldogs the advantage and led them into the singles matches leading Nevada 1-0.
Finishing first with a win for the Bulldogs, Jacqueline Haskett played at the No. 5 spot and came out with a big win for the 'Dogs beating Lais Ogata 6-1, 6-0.
Playing at the No. 1 spot for the Bulldogs, No. 14th-ranked Gloria won her match against No. 59 Maria Mizyuk, 6-2, 6-0. Gloria has improved to 18-8 overall for the season and 10-5 in dual.
Clinching the match for Fresno State and playing at the No. 4 spot, Rowe breezed by her opponent Florence DeVrye, winning 6-2, 6-1. Rowe's win helped her improve to 21-10 for the season.
Kucerkova played solid at the No. 3 spot beating Alice Hall in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Playing at the No. 6 spot, Danon Beatty played with confidence and won her match against Ly-Huong Dinh, 6-3, 6-3.
This was the first of an eight-match homestand for the Bulldogs. The 'Dogs will continue the stand on Sunday as they take on No. 26-ranked Pepperdine at noon at the Wathen Tennis Center.
