Bulldogs Travel to Cal Poly, Host LA Tech

FRESNO, Calif. - After a week off the Fresno State baseball team returns to the diamond for a 6 p.m. game at Cal Poly on Wednesday. The teams have already met three times this year with the Bulldogs winning two of the meetings.
Following Wednesday's game, Fresno State returns to Beiden Field for a four- game series with WAC foe Louisiana Tech Friday through Sunday. Friday's game begins at 6 p.m. while Saturday's doubleheader starts at 2 p.m. and Sunday's game begins at 1 p.m. All four games against Louisiana Tech can be heard on 580 KMJ.
Dogs vs. Cal Poly
The two teams have already met three teams this year with the Dogs winning two of the three. Fresno State won the last two meetings in Fresno 10-9 and 13-11. Fresno State leads the overall series 90-43.
About Cal Poly
Cal Poly is 9-17 and led by the offensive play of Ryan Lee and Luke Yoder. Lee is hitting .382 while Yoder is hitting .379 with six homeruns and 22 RBIs. As a team Cal Poly is hitting .303.
Bulldog vs Louisiana Tech
Fresno State leads the overall series 20-14. In seven meetings last year, Fresno State won the series 4-3.
Scouting Louisiana Tech
Louisiana Tech is 15-14 and 2-8 in WAC play. Nick Grunenwald is hitting .352 with three homeruns and 18 RBIs while Jericho Jones is hitting .350 with seven homeruns and 19 RBIs.
Take a Kid to a Game Weekend
This weekend against Louisiana Tech, kids 8th grade and under can get a free ticket to a game with one paid adult ticket. Tickets can be purchased at the box office on game days.
Ahmady Gets National Honors
Fresno State infielder Alan Ahmady has been named the West Region Baseball Player of the Week by CollegeBaseballinsider.com for his performances against Cal Poly and Nevada, March 25-30. The West region consists of schools from the Big West, Mountain West, Pac 10, West Coast, WAC and Independent schools.
Ahmady, a sophomore from Fresno, Calif., hit .583 with 14 hits, eight runs scored, six doubles, three home runs, and 14 RBI as Fresno State went 5-1 last week. In four conference games against Nevada, he hit .600 in 15 at bats with three homers and 10 RBI. He also scored seven runs and had a slugging percentage of 1.467 during the four games against the Pack.
Ahmady was also named National Player of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers and earned WAC Hitter of the Week honors for his performance against Cal Poly and Nevada.
Offensive Explosion
In the last 14 games, Steve Susdorf, Alan Ahmady and Erik Wetzel are all hitting over .400. Ahmady is hitting .436 with four homeruns and 21 RBIs while Susdorf is hitting .431 with four homeruns and 21 RBIs. Wetzel is hitting .412.
Dogs on a WAC Roll
The Dogs are 16-6 in their last 22 WAC regular season games dating back to last season. Including the 2007 WAC tournament, in which the Dogs went 4-0, and a non-conference game in the Pepsi Johnny Quik against New Mexico State, Fresno State is 21-7 in the last 27 games against teams from the Western Athletic Conference.
